Founder/Pastor Charles G. Simmons, Sr. is a native of Rochester, New York. He served in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged. He received his education from Monroe Community College, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Elim Bible Institute where he earned degrees and certificates.
Pastor Simmons is third generation Church of God in Christ. His history dates back to the founding of Power House Church of God in Christ (Rochester, NY) by his paternal grandfather, Reverend Dolly (Mother Ella) Simmons in 1935. The church was named by his late mother, District Missionary Evangelist Audra L. Simmons. He has worked in ministry since the age of 16, receiving his minister's license in 1977, and becoming an Ordained Elder in 1987. He is a humble servant of God, appointed and anointed to teach and preach the gospel according to God's truth.
After assisting his local church with a deluxe motor coach ministry, Pastor Simmons became interested in becoming involved in this business venture. In 1980, he became CEO of his own charter and tour deluxe motor coach company under the name CGS and Son Transit, Inc. He made history by becoming the first African-American to own a deluxe motor coach company in Upstate New York.
In 1997, by the leading of God and his dedication to the ministry, Pastor Simmons founded Liberty Temple Ministries (LTM). He has a unique prophetic ministry for healing and restoration. He seeks to elevate God's people from mental, physical, and spiritual bondage. Pastor Simmons has been gifted to teach the word of God in an approach that all can understand. Liberty Temple is a church with a growing congregation, seeking to enrich the lives of others through God's truth and promises. The church is currently involved in a major Building Expansion Project and preparing for a new edifice that will enhance the worship experience and the community at large.
Pastor Simmons is a member of the Christian Men's Network and currently serves as the Coordinator of Protocol & Transportation of the Adjutant of NYW 1st Jurisdiction with Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop James R. Wright, Sr. Superintendent Simmons has served as a National Adjutant of C.O.G.I.C. since 1997. He was awarded a Certificate of Completion in the 95th National Holy Convocation in Memphis, TN in November 2002 under the leadership of Bishop Barnett Earl Thoroughgood.
Pastor Simmons is truly a dedicated and honorable man of God, possessing attributes of integrity, love, and strength. He is married to his lovely wife, Evangelist Rachel Simmons, who supports the ministry by uplifting the name of Jesus and God's Kingdom and encouraging individuals to walk into the blessing that God has in store for their lives. As First Lady of Liberty Temple Ministries Church Of God In Christ, she is a woman after God's own heart who believes strongly in family and winning souls for the kingdom of God. Pastor and Evangelist Simmons have four wonderful grandchildren.
